Reverend Craig serves up new analysis that targets the essence of things and not a replay of news cycle minutiae.
In this episode, his commentary focuses on some Virginia “low-fat republicans” who sneaked over to the dark side to help the Democrats pass the “equal rights amendment” in the Virginia state senate. Thank God, however, that the Republicans in the Virginia House of Delegates blocked it.
As background, Phyliss Schlafly nationally defeated the “so-called” Equal Rights Amendment decades ago. According to Wikipedia, Schlafly became an outspoken opponent of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) during the 1970s as the organizer of the “STOP ERA” campaign.
STOP was an acronym for “Stop Taking Our Privileges”.
Mrs. Schlafly was opposed by groups such as the National Organization for Women (NOW) and the ERAmerica coalition. She argued that the ERA would take away gender-specific privileges currently enjoyed by women, including:
- “dependent wife” benefits under Social Security,
- separate restrooms for males and females, and
- exemption from the Selective Service (the military draft)
Reverend Craig interviewed the late Mrs. Schlafly prior to her passing in 2016. The interview addressed the Obama administration’s overreaching secularist policies that attacked religious freedom, here.
