Advent Season: Preparing a Straight Way for the Lord.
Welcome to The REALLY Real Deal and our Sunday Message for November 27, 2022.
The question I have for today is, how are we preparing for the coming (adventus in latin) of our Lord with candles, songs, and gifts?
These things brighten the season for certain, but do they “make straight the way of the Lord?” (John 1:23)
John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus in his first adventus [coming]. Just as John the Baptist declared the way for the Lord, so also should we.
Are we, as the Temple of the Holy Spirit, preparing our hearts for our Blessed Hope: the second, and final coming of the Lord, Jesus?
In Luke 2:14 we read: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace, toward men of good will.”
Fewer translations will say, however; “…and on earth, peace, good will toward men.”
Think about the difference between the two. What does it mean to you?
